Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information The Pirates Den Adventure Centre collects, why, and how we look after it. We keep it simple and only collect what we need to run your visit or party safely.
Who we are
The Pirates Den Adventure Centre, Coes Road, Marshes Lower, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 YYH6. Phone 042 932 7454. Email piratesdenbookings@gmail.com. We are responsible for (the “controller” of) the information described here.
What we collect and why
- Bookings (play sessions, parties, toddler mornings): your name, email address and phone number, the date and numbers of your booking, and for parties the birthday child’s name and age, food choice and any notes you give us, such as allergies. We use this to take and manage your booking, send your confirmation, reminders and invitations, and contact you about your booking. Legal basis: to carry out our contract with you.
- Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. We keep a record of what was paid and refunded, as the law requires.
- Signed play rules and party host agreements: the name of the adult in charge, the number of children and their signature, signed at reception. We keep these as part of our safety and insurance records. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe centre, and our legal obligations.
- Accident records: if there’s an accident, we record what happened and who was involved, so we can help, follow up and meet our safety and insurance obligations.
- Gift vouchers: the buyer’s details, and the name and email address of the person the voucher is for, so we can send and honour the voucher.
- Enquiry forms (school tours, groups, contact): the details you send us, used only to answer your enquiry. These forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam.
- Our newsletter: if you choose to receive our news and offers, your email address is kept in our mailing service, Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Legal basis: your consent.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies that are needed for booking and paying to work, such as your basket. With your consent, we also use cookies that help us understand how the website is used. You can choose which cookies to allow, and change your mind at any time, from the cookie banner.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with the companies that help us run our business, and only what they need: our website host, Stripe (payments), Mailchimp (newsletter, only if you sign up), Google (reCAPTCHA on our forms) and our email service. They act on our instructions. We never sell your information. We may share information with our insurers, advisers or the authorities where we must by law or to deal with an accident or claim.
How long we keep it
- Booking and payment records: 6 years, for tax and accounting.
- Signed play rules, party host agreements and accident records: for as long as they may be needed for safety and insurance purposes. Where a child is involved, this can be until a few years after they turn 18.
- Enquiries: up to 1 year after we last hear from you.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it, subject to the records we must keep by law. You can withdraw your consent to our newsletter at any time. To do any of this, email us or ask at reception. If you’re not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Children
We collect children’s first names, ages and numbers only from their parent or guardian, and only to run their booking or party safely.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page. Last updated: October 2026.
